The Lord Edward Corinth and Verity Browne series consists of ten mysteries set in 1930s England. Lord Edward is the younger son of a duke with a talent for investigation. Verity Browne is a politically engaged journalist. Their cases take them through a decade of English life as fascism rises on the continent and war approaches.
Sweet Poison (2001) opens the series at a country house dinner party. The books that follow move through different settings while keeping the 1930s atmosphere and the growing tension between Edward and Verity as both investigative partners and something more. Sweet Sorrow (2009) closes the series.
