Linwood Barclay has published 14 standalone thrillers from 2008 to 2025. This is the largest section of his catalog and where he has done most of his work since the success of No Time for Goodbye. Each book follows ordinary people whose lives are disrupted by a single event: a missing person, a threatening stranger, a secret exposed.
The standalones include some of his biggest books. Trust Your Eyes (2011) was optioned for film. Elevator Pitch (2019) is set in New York City where elevators start killing people. The formula is consistent: tight premises, fast pacing, and twists that keep the pages turning.
