Lexa Hillyer’s standalone novels span media tie-in work and original YA fiction. Her earliest published novel, Rio: The Junior Novel (2011), adapted the animated film for younger readers. Proof of Forever (2015) takes a more original approach, following four former friends who return to a summer camp and get a chance to relive a pivotal moment from their past.
Frozen Beauty (2020) is her most recent standalone, a YA mystery and thriller set in a small town during winter. The book follows three sisters after one of them is found unconscious in the snow, and it blends family drama with suspense. Each of Hillyer’s standalone novels shows a different facet of her writing, from lighthearted adaptation to atmospheric mystery.
