The Lewis Trilogy by Peter May is set on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides. The three books are The Blackhouse (2009), The Lewis Man (2011), and The Chessmen (2012). The remote island setting and close-knit community give the series a strong sense of place.
The trilogy follows Fin Macleod as he returns to his childhood home and gets drawn into criminal investigations. The Lewis Trilogy became Peter May’s best-known work and was later expanded into a tetralogy with the addition of The Black Loch in 2024.
