Lesley Crewe’s standalone novels span two decades of contemporary fiction, mostly set in Nova Scotia. From her 2005 debut Relative Happiness to The Spirit of Scatarie in 2025, each book tells its own self-contained story while sharing Crewe’s distinctive voice — wry, affectionate, and grounded in the rhythms of East Coast Canadian life.
The books cover a range of situations: homecomings, family secrets, midlife crises, and the occasional trip abroad. What holds them together is Crewe’s ear for dialogue and her willingness to let her characters be funny and flawed at the same time.
