Wyoming Wildfire (1987), published through Zebra Books, was Leigh Greenwood’s debut — a Western historical romance that established the formula he would refine across nearly thirty years of publishing. The early standalones from 1987 to 1992 are all historical Westerns, set across Wyoming, Colorado, and Arizona.
By 1998, Greenwood was also writing contemporary romance, with titles like Just What the Doctor Ordered, Married by High Noon, and Undercover Honeymoon shifting the setting from the frontier to modern America. These later standalones are lighter in tone than the post-Civil War dramas of his series work, closer to the contemporary category romance of the period.
The seventeen standalones represent the breadth of a prolific career, from a debut Western in 1987 to The Reluctant Bride in 2005, all of it published between or alongside the series books that made his name.
