The Legendarium is a metaphysical library that exists at the intersection of the multiverse, holding every book ever written and doorways into every world those books created. In every generation, certain writers are chosen to protect it. In the first novel, that duty falls to Bombo Dawson, a newly published author, and Alistair Foley, an aspiring writer who is also Bombo’s harshest critic. They make for uneasy allies, but they are what the Legendarium has to work with.
The second book, The Wrath of Bob, picks up three years later when a man from Cleveland decides to mount a campaign against books he thinks should be banned, recruiting allies and igniting a renewed attack on the library. The series has been compared to the work of Kurt Vonnegut and Douglas Adams in tone, trading on absurdist humor and genuine affection for the act of reading.
Summers and Bunker bring different sensibilities to the project and that contrast comes through in the books. Fans of literary satire or stories that take books seriously as objects worth defending will find a lot to like here.
