Lee Bacon’s standalone novels range from historical-ish adventure (Our Houseboat on the Nile) to speculative fiction aimed at young readers. The Last Human (2019) is set in a future where robots have inherited the Earth and one robot discovers the last surviving human child. It was a popular pick for school reading programs.
Imaginary (2021) explores the concept of imaginary friends from the friend’s perspective, and Replaced (2022) tackles themes of identity and belonging. Each book stands alone and shows Bacon’s ability to find fresh angles on familiar science fiction ideas.
