The Lazarus graphic novels collect Greg Rucka and artist Michael Lark’s dystopian science fiction series. Set in a future where a handful of corporate families have divided the world among themselves, the series follows Forever Carlyle, the genetically enhanced warrior who protects the Carlyle family’s holdings. Seven main volumes plus supplementary material tell an ongoing story of family politics, class warfare, and one soldier’s growing doubts about the system she was built to defend.
The series has won multiple Eisner Awards and is widely regarded as one of the best science fiction comics of the 2010s. Rucka builds a detailed world with clear parallels to real-world wealth inequality, while the personal story of Forever gives the political themes an emotional anchor.
