Laurie Halse Anderson has written two graphic novels. Speak: The Graphic Novel (2018) adapts her most famous book into comics form, with illustrations by Emily Carroll. The visual medium works well for a story that is partly about not being able to speak, letting the artwork carry what words cannot.
Wonder Woman: Tempest Tossed (2020) is a standalone DC Comics graphic novel aimed at young adult readers. Anderson and illustrator Leila del Duca tell a story about a teenage Diana who washes ashore in the modern world and finds herself among refugees and immigrants. It is a young Wonder Woman story that focuses more on identity and belonging than on superhero action.
