The Kylie Kendall Mysteries are the most lighthearted of Claire McNab’s series. Kylie Kendall is an Australian woman who inherits a private investigation agency in Los Angeles, and the five books follow her adjustment to a new country and a new career while solving cases. The series ran from 2004 to 2007.
The titles all feature Australian animals: The Wombat Strategy, The Kookaburra Gambit, The Quokka Question, The Dingo Dilemma, and The Platypus Ploy. The fish-out-of-water premise gives McNab room for broad comedy alongside the mystery plots, and the books sit closer to cozy mystery than her other work. Read in order, starting with The Wombat Strategy.
