Amy A. Bartol’s Kricket series is a three-book science fiction romance. Under Different Stars (2013) introduces Kricket, who finds herself on another world. Sea of Stars (2015) and Darken the Stars (2015) complete the trilogy.
Kricket has spent her life in foster care on Earth, unaware that she belongs to another planet. When she is taken there, she discovers she has abilities that make her valuable to competing factions. The series blends science fiction worldbuilding with a romance subplot, and the stakes grow larger with each book as Kricket learns more about who she is.
Bartol is also known for her Premonition series, another paranormal romance sequence. The Kricket trilogy was originally self-published before Amazon Publishing’s 47North imprint picked it up. The two sequels came out in the same year, so readers who start Under Different Stars can move through the full story without delay.
