The Kormak series by William King follows a Guardian, a holy warrior armed with a dwarf-forged magic sword, as he hunts down monsters and dark sorcerers. Starting with Stealer of Flesh in 2012, the series grew to twelve entries by 2017, including both novellas and a collected omnibus edition, The Kormak Saga.
Kormak is a wandering figure in the mold of classic sword and sorcery heroes. Each book sends him to a different location with its own threats, from tombs and demon-haunted cities to fearsome sea creatures. King wrote the series independently of his Warhammer work, giving himself freedom to build a world from scratch. The shorter format of many entries keeps the pace fast, and the series has found a readership among fans of Robert E. Howard and similar writers.
