The Killing Eve series began as a set of serial novellas published on Kindle, starting with Villanelle: Hollowpoint in 2015. Luke Jennings later compiled and expanded these into the novel Codename Villanelle (2017), which became the basis for the hit BBC America television series. The books follow two characters on opposite sides: Villanelle, a psychopathic but stylish assassin working for a shadowy organization, and Eve Polastri, an MI6 agent who becomes obsessed with tracking her down.
The series continued with No Tomorrow (2018) and Die for Me (2020), with Jennings returning to add Resurrection and Long Shot in 2025. Jennings, who had previously worked as a dance critic for The Observer and The New Yorker, brought an unusual sensibility to the thriller genre. The cat-and-mouse dynamic between Villanelle and Eve drives the series, with each book building on the complicated relationship between hunter and hunted.
