Ki Longfellow’s standalone novels show a writer drawn to strong women in unusual circumstances. The Secret Magdalene (2007) and Flow Down Like Silver (2011) are historical novels built around real women, Mary Magdalene and Louise Brooks, reimagined with the freedom of fiction.
Her other standalones explore different territory. Stinkfoot (2003) is her earliest novel, Houdini Heart (2011) brings a darker edge, China Blues (2012) moves to a different setting, and Walks Away Woman (2013) draws on the landscapes and spirit of the American Southwest.
