Kazuo Ishiguro’s anthology appearances date to the early years of his career. He was included in the Best of Young British Novelists selection in 1983, a Granta list that helped launch the careers of several now-famous writers including Martin Amis, Ian McEwan, and Salman Rushdie.
The Penguin Book of Modern British Short Stories (1987) also features his work, placing him alongside other significant voices in British fiction. These anthology appearances helped build Ishiguro’s reputation during the 1980s, before The Remains of the Day brought him wider fame.
