Kazu Kibuishi’s anthology work centers on the Flight series, which he created and edited starting in 2004. The eight-volume series collected original short comics from dozens of artists, becoming one of the most respected indie comics anthologies of the 2000s. Each volume featured a mix of genres and art styles, held together by Kibuishi’s editorial vision and a general emphasis on quality storytelling.
The Flight series ran through 2011, and a spin-off called Flight Explorer was published in 2008 for younger readers. The Explorer anthology volumes (The Mystery Boxes, The Lost Islands, The Hidden Doors) continued Kibuishi’s role as an anthology editor through 2014. Together, these collections represent a significant body of editorial work alongside his own graphic novels.
