Katherena Vermette’s two poetry collections both draw from her life in Winnipeg’s North End. North End Love Songs (2012) won the Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry in 2013, making Vermette one of the youngest recipients of the prize. The collection examines Metis identity, family, and the North End neighbourhood through personal and communal lenses.
River Woman (2018) is her second collection, published by House of Anansi Press. It continues to explore themes of place, identity, and womanhood, building on the voice Vermette established in her debut.
