Kate Marshall’s standalone novels cover a wide range, from YA survival fiction to adult domestic thrillers. Her debut, I Am Still Alive (2018), drops a teenager into the Canadian wilderness after tragedy and forces her to fight for survival. Rules for Vanishing (2019) takes a different approach, using found-footage storytelling to build a ghost story about a girl searching for her missing sister on a road that may not exist. Our Last Echoes (2021) and These Fleeting Shadows (2022) continued her run of YA horror with haunted settings and family secrets.
Starting with What Lies in the Woods (2023), Marshall moved into adult suspense. That novel follows a woman revisiting a childhood attack and the lies she told about it. The Narrow (2023) and No One Can Know (2024) kept that momentum going, with each book centered on buried secrets and dangerous relationships. Extra Normal (2023) returned to middle grade territory with a creepy suburban story. Her 2025 releases, A Killing Cold and We Won’t All Survive, continue her adult thriller work, and The Girls Before is set for 2026.
