Kate Grenville has published four standalone novels outside her connected series. Dreamhouse (1987) was her first novel, a dark story about a couple’s holiday in a rented house. The Idea of Perfection (1999) is a lighter work about two people who meet in a small New South Wales town and won the Orange Prize for Fiction.
A Room Made of Leaves (2020) is a fictional memoir by Elizabeth Macarthur, a real historical figure who was one of the first European women in colonial New South Wales. Restless Dolly Maunder (2023) tells the story of a woman’s life across a century of Australian history.
