Justin Scott wrote 22 standalone novels over a career spanning more than fifty years. His earliest publications, Many Happy Returns and Deal Me Out, both appeared in 1973, and he kept writing steadily through the 1970s, 80s, and 90s with titles like The Shipkiller (1978), Normandie Triangle (1981), The Widow of Desire (1989), and The Empty Eye of the Sea (1994). Several of these titles have nautical or international settings, judging by their names.
His output continued into the 2000s with Red Sky at Morning (2000), Buried at Sea (2002), Sea Hunter (2003), and The Ripple Effect (2004). After a long gap, Forty Days and Forty Nights arrived in 2021, and The Sister Queens followed in 2024. Since these are all independent novels, readers can start anywhere and read them in whatever order they like.
