Justice League Odyssey launched in 2018 as part of DC’s response to the events of No Justice, when regions of space previously blocked by the Source Wall opened up to exploration. A group of heroes including Cyborg, Starfire, and Azrael travel into the Ghost Sector, a lawless region of space populated by worlds and people with an unexpected connection to Darkseid’s mythology.
The series ran for twelve volumes and took the characters into territory quite different from Earth-based DC stories. Writer Joshua Williamson established the early premise before the book transitioned to other creative teams. The series is notable for giving Starfire and Cyborg extended starring roles and for the unusual placement of Darkseid as a figure central to the heroes’ mission rather than straightforwardly an enemy.
Reading from volume one is recommended, as the story builds on a connected premise across the run. The series ties into the broader DC Rebirth continuity and overlaps with the main Justice League title. All twelve volumes are listed in the reading order table below.
