Josh Weil’s standalone novels show his range as a writer. The Great Glass Sea, published in 2014, is set in Russia and tells the story of twin brothers who grow apart as their city transforms around them. It drew praise for its ambitious scope and lyrical prose.
The Age of Perpetual Light, published in 2017, returns to Virginia and examines a farming community dealing with a corporation that wants to flood the valley with artificial light. What Came West, his most recent novel, is due in 2026. Each of these books stands alone, but they share Weil’s interest in how people hold on to what matters when the ground beneath them is changing.
