Joseph Skibell’s three novels span from 1997 to 2010. A Blessing on the Moon, his debut, tells the story of a man who rises from a mass grave during the Holocaust and wanders through a transformed landscape. The English Disease followed in 2003, and A Curable Romantic in 2010 brought together Sigmund Freud, Esperanto, and the Warsaw Ghetto in a single sprawling story.
Each novel works on its own, connected only by Skibell’s interest in Jewish history and his tendency toward unconventional storytelling.
