Jordanna Max Brodsky published one standalone novel, The Wolf in the Whale, in 2019. The book is a historical fantasy set in the ancient Arctic, long before European colonization of North America. It follows Omat, a young Inuit shaman who has been raised as both hunter and spiritual leader, whose world is upended when Norse Viking explorers arrive on the shores of what is now Canada.
The novel weaves together Inuit and Norse mythologies, placing the gods of both traditions alongside their human followers in a story about survival, identity, and the collision of two very different cultures. Brodsky drew on extensive historical research to portray both the Inuit and Norse perspectives with care. The Wolf in the Whale was well received by critics and marked a departure from the modern urban setting of her Olympus Bound trilogy.
