Saul’s standalone novels give him room to experiment outside the Sarah Roberts framework. The Threat (2011) and The Specter (2012) were among his earliest published works. Sharp Fear (2017) is a more straightforward thriller, while later entries like Frequency of the Dead, The Drowning, and There Will Be Blood lean into horror and supernatural territory.
The Soulless (2022) and The Woman in the Woods (2023) are his most recent standalones. Each book is self-contained and requires no prior knowledge of Saul’s other series.
