Peter Boland takes a much grittier approach with this action thriller series. John Savage is a former SAS soldier whose life fell apart after a devastating family loss. With nothing left to live for, he becomes the kind of person desperate people turn to when they have no other options. In the first book, Savage Lies, a single mother hires him to find her missing daughter, and his search takes him deep into a conspiracy stretching across Europe to the forests of Scandinavia.
The series continued with Savage Games, Savage Children, and Savage Gods, each raising the stakes as Savage takes on increasingly dangerous adversaries. Boland keeps the pacing fast and the action frequent, writing in a style that fans of Lee Child and David Baldacci will recognize. The four books were published between 2018 and 2020.
