Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup is John Carreyrou’s account of the rise and fall of Theranos. The book grew out of his investigative reporting at The Wall Street Journal, where he first revealed that the company’s blood-testing technology did not perform as advertised.
The book covers Elizabeth Holmes’s founding of Theranos as a Stanford dropout, the culture of secrecy and intimidation within the company, and the experiences of whistleblowers who risked their careers to speak out. It was a major bestseller and has been adapted for film and television.
