John Barlow’s standalone novels show his range as a writer, moving between literary fiction and crime. Intoxicated (2007) was his first novel, a literary work that followed his well-received debut collection Eating Mammals. What Ever Happened To Jerry Picco? (2011) and Islanders (2012) continued to mix character study with elements of suspense.
His most recent standalone, To the Grave (2022), is a crime thriller that reflects the darker, more plot-driven direction of his later work. These four novels can be read in any order and are independent of each other and of his LS9 series.
