Jennifer Griffith’s standalone novels show the range of her writing before she settled into her later romance series. A Little Sisterly Advice (2006) was her debut, followed by Big in Japan (2012) and Chocolate and Conversation (2013). These books predate her more structured series work like Legally in Love and Inconveniently in Love.
Big in Japan drew on Griffith’s own time living in Japan during college and became her breakout book. It was named one of the top ten books of 2012 by KSL.com and was optioned for a film adaptation. Chocolate and Conversation followed in 2013, continuing her focus on warm, character-driven stories. All three standalones can be read independently of each other and of her later series.
