Jeanne Kalogridis has written standalone novels across horror, science fiction, and historical fiction. Her early works include War of the Worlds: The Resurrection (1988) and the horror novel Specters (1991). Beginning with The Burning Times (1997), she shifted toward historical fiction.
Her most well-known standalone novels are set in Renaissance Italy: The Borgia Bride (2005), Painting Mona Lisa (2006), The Scarlet Contessa (2010), and The Inquisitor’s Wife (2012). These books center on women navigating the dangerous political and religious intrigues of the Italian courts. Orphan of Florence (2017) is her most recent original novel.
