James Joyce’s non-fiction writings were published primarily after his death and consist mainly of critical essays and correspondence. Critical Writings (1959) collects his literary reviews, lectures, and essays, giving readers insight into the ideas that shaped his fiction.
His letters have been published in several volumes. James Joyce Letters Volumes 1-2 & 3 (1966) and Selected Letters of James Joyce (1975) cover his personal and professional correspondence, from his early years in Dublin through his decades abroad. James Joyce’s Letters To Sylvia Beach (1987) focuses on his relationship with the publisher of Ulysses. Together, these collections provide a detailed record of Joyce’s thinking, his daily life, and the long struggles that accompanied the publication of his books.
