James Joyce’s collections span poetry, short fiction, and posthumous compilations. Chamber Music (1907) was his first published book, a sequence of 36 lyric poems. Dubliners (1914) is his celebrated short story collection, fifteen stories that capture Dublin life with precision and restraint. Pomes Penyeach (1927) is a slim collection of thirteen poems written over many years.
Later publications include Collected Poems (1936), the posthumous Giacomo Joyce (1968), a short prose piece written during Joyce’s time in Trieste, and Finn’s Hotel (2013), a collection of short pieces that may be early sketches for Finnegans Wake. These collections fill in the gaps between Joyce’s major novels and show the range of forms he worked in throughout his life.
