J.R. Rain’s standalone short stories and novellas collect twelve shorter works outside his main series. From Skeleton Jim (2016) to War Daddy (2023), the stories cover vampires, zombies, haunted fridges, and other supernatural encounters.
The earlier entries lean into vampire fiction with Vampire Alley (2016), Vampire Road (2017), and Vampire Campfire (2021). The 2022 batch brought six new titles in quick succession, including Zombie App, Merlin’s Tomb, and The Fridge, each exploring a different corner of the horror genre. Book Burning, Silver Escape, and War Daddy followed in 2023 to round out the collection.
These standalone pieces are short enough to read in a single sitting. They give Rain room to experiment with ideas that might not sustain a full novel or series. Readers who enjoy his Samantha Moon or Jim Knighthorse books will recognize his voice here, but each story works on its own without any series knowledge.
