Ivy Pochoda’s standalone novels span over fifteen years of publishing, beginning with The Art of Disappearing in 2009 and running through Ecstasy in 2025. While each book stands on its own, they share Pochoda’s interest in communities under pressure and her habit of using multiple viewpoints to build a full picture of a place.
Her early work includes The Art of Disappearing, about a magician and the woman drawn into his world, and Visitation Street (2013), set in a tight-knit Brooklyn waterfront neighborhood rattled by the disappearance of two teenage girls. Wonder Valley (2017) follows five characters whose stories converge across the LA basin, while These Women (2020) centers on a serial killer targeting women along the streets of South LA. Sing Her Down (2023) traces two women from an Arizona prison to the streets of Phoenix and beyond.
Ecstasy (2025) is her most recent novel. Across all six books, Pochoda writes crime fiction that pays as much attention to setting and character as it does to plot, and each novel works as a standalone reading experience.
