Amanda Flower’s India Hayes series follows India as she stumbles into local mysteries. Maid of Murder (2010) is Flower’s debut novel, and the series continues through Murder in a Basket (2012), The Final Reveille (2015), The Final Tap (2016), and The Final Vow (2017).
As Flower’s first published series, these books established the cozy mystery style she would carry into later work like the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries. There was a two-year gap between the first book and the second, and then another three-year gap before the “Final” sub-trilogy began in 2015. The last three books came out in consecutive years and share similar title structures.
India Hayes is set in small-town America, where local events and community relationships drive the murder plots. Readers who like amateur sleuths and low-violence mysteries will find this series a good fit, especially those who want to see where Flower’s career started.
