The Hyperion Cantos is Dan Simmons’ best-known work. Hyperion (1989) won the Hugo Award and uses a Canterbury Tales structure, with seven pilgrims each telling their story as they travel to meet the Shrike. The Fall of Hyperion (1990) concludes their journey.
Endymion (1996) and The Rise of Endymion (1997) pick up the story centuries later with a new protagonist. Orphans of the Helix (1999) is a novella coda to the series. The Cantos has been published in numerous translations.
