Willow Rose’s Horror Stories from Denmark consists of four horror novellas published in 2013. Each story draws on a nursery rhyme for its premise, from Eenie, Meenie through Humpty Dumpty.
The nursery rhyme angle is the series hook. Eenie, Meenie takes the counting rhyme and gives it a sinister twist. Nibble, Nibble, Crunch borrows from Hansel and Gretel territory. Rock-a-Bye Baby and Humpty Dumpty complete the set, each warping a familiar childhood verse into something unsettling. The Danish setting adds a Nordic chill to the horror.
Willow Rose is a Danish-born author who has written dozens of horror and mystery novels. These four novellas are shorter than her full-length work and were published early in her career. They can be read in any order since each stands alone, but the nursery rhyme theme rewards reading all four as a set.
