The Holland Taylor series is David Housewright’s first mystery series. The debut novel, Penance (1995), won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel from the Mystery Writers of America.
Holland Taylor is a Minnesota detective whose cases take him through the Twin Cities’ criminal underworld. Housewright writes hard-boiled crime fiction in the tradition of Raymond Chandler and Robert B. Parker, with a distinctly Midwestern sensibility.
The series has five books, with a long gap between the third (1999) and fourth (2018) as Housewright focused on his Mac McKenzie series.
