The Highlander series is Amanda Forester’s medieval Scottish romance sequence. The Highlander’s Sword (2010) launches the series, followed by The Highlander’s Heart (2011), True Highland Spirit (2012), and My Highland Rebel (2017). Each book pairs a Scottish warrior with a woman who upends his world.
The Highlander’s Sword sets the tone with a medieval setting where clan alliances are forged through marriage and battle. The Highlander’s Heart (2011) continues in that world the following year, and True Highland Spirit (2012) rounds out the initial trio. My Highland Rebel arrived five years later in 2017, returning to the same landscape after a long gap.
Forester wrote a related series called Highland Trouble that covers similar ground. The Highlander books were her first foray into Scottish romance and helped build her readership in the genre. The medieval period setting separates these from the many Regency-era Highland romances on the market.
