Her Instruments by M.C.A. Hogarth is a space opera set in the Peltedverse, starting with Earthrise in 2013. The series follows Reese Eddings, a human woman who captains a merchant starship called the TMS Earthrise. Her crew is made up of various Pelted species, and their trading missions keep pulling them into situations more dangerous than simple commerce.
Rose Point and Laisrathera raise the stakes as Reese and her crew get drawn into larger conflicts within the Pelted Alliance. The series mixes alien cultural clashes with the personal dynamics of living and working on a small ship. A Rose Point Holiday, published in 2016, provides a lighter coda to the main trilogy.
