DC Comics published a He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series beginning in 2013, initially as a miniseries and then expanding into an ongoing title. Written by Keith Giffen with Dan Abnett contributing to later volumes, the series reimagines Eternia with a more grounded visual style and darker storylines than the original 1980s material. The first volume begins with He-Man amnesiac and working as a simple woodcutter before his memories and destiny are gradually restored.
Origins of Eternia expands on the mythology of the setting. DC Universe Vs. Masters of the Universe (2014) is a crossover with the main DC superhero universe. The Blood of Grayskull and Eternity War storylines form the core of the ongoing series, dealing with a major threat to Castle Grayskull and all of Eternia. He-Man and the Masters of the Multiverse (2020) is the final entry, a multiverse-spanning story that pulls in alternate versions of He-Man. The series ran until DC ended its Masters of the Universe publishing program.
