The Grasso Family Trilogy begins with A Kiss from Maddalena (2003), set in an Italian village in the 1940s. The Saint of Lost Things (2005) moves the story to an Italian-American community in Wilmington, Delaware, during the 1950s. All This Talk of Love (2013) brings the family into the present day.
The trilogy traces how immigration reshapes a family over generations. Each book stands on its own as a complete story while adding new layers to the Grasso family history. Castellani drew on his own Italian-American background to write the series.
