The Goddess Girls series takes the pantheon of Greek mythology and drops it into a setting every young reader knows well: school. Mount Olympus Academy is where the children of the gods attend classes in subjects like Hero-ology and Beauty-ology, form friendships and rivalries, and face challenges that echo the original myths while feeling true to the experience of being a kid.
Each of the 28 books focuses on a different character. The early installments center on Athena, Persephone, Aphrodite, and Artemis, establishing the core friend group that anchors the series. Later books branch out to less well-known figures like Medusa (who is sympathetically portrayed as an outsider), Pandora (whose curiosity is both her greatest strength and biggest weakness), and Cassandra (who has the gift of prophecy but is never believed). Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams kept the series going for over a decade, giving young readers a fun entry point into stories that have been told for thousands of years.
