The Gerin The Fox series is one of Harry Turtledove’s earliest works. It follows Gerin, a nobleman known more for his wits than his sword arm, as he tries to protect his lands in a world inspired by ancient and medieval cultures. The series blends fantasy with the kind of historical detail that became Turtledove’s trademark.
Starting with Wereblood and Werenight in 1979, the series was later expanded in the mid-to-late 1990s with novels like Prince of the North and Fox and Empire. Wisdom of the Fox and Tale of the Fox collected and expanded earlier material. The books are lighter in tone than much of Turtledove’s later alternate history work.
