George Dawes Green’s standalone novels span nearly three decades, starting with The Caveman’s Valentine in 1994. That debut, about a homeless man living in a cave in Inwood Park who investigates a murder, won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel. His second book, The Juror, became a bestseller and was quickly adapted for the screen.
Ravens (2009) and The Kingdoms of Savannah (2022) continued Green’s pattern of writing taut, atmospheric fiction rooted in specific American places. Each novel stands on its own, and Green is known for taking his time between books.
