George Alec Effinger’s short fiction earned some of his highest honors. “Schrodinger’s Kitten” won both the Hugo and Nebula Awards in 1989, becoming one of the most celebrated science fiction stories of the decade.
His shorter works, including “Everything But Honor” and the collected “The Aliens Who Knew, I Mean, Everything,” demonstrate the wit and inventiveness that characterized his career. Effinger was as comfortable in short form as in novels.
