The Gemini series opens with Celeste (2004), in which a girl is forced by her unstable mother to assume the identity of her dead twin brother. The first three books follow Celeste’s story through increasingly dark territory, while the later four books shift to different characters and situations.
Written by Andrew Neiderman, the series spans 2004 to 2017. The split between the Celeste storyline and the later books can make it feel like two separate series. Readers who come for the disturbing twin premise in the early books may find the later entries have a different tone.
