The Ghost Hunters series by Jayne Castle is set on Harmony, a colony world where humans developed psychic abilities after traveling through an energy curtain to reach a new planet. The ancient alien ruins beneath the surface contain dangerous ghost energy, and the people who can control it are called ghost hunters. The series pairs these hunters with romantic interests in stories that blend futuristic science fiction with paranormal romance.
Starting with Bridal Jitters (1999) and After Dark (2000), the series has run for eleven books over twenty-five years, with the most recent, People in Glass Houses, published in 2024. Each book features a new couple while building on the shared world of Harmony, its underground catacombs, and the small dust bunny creatures that have become a fan favorite.
Jayne Castle is a pen name of Jayne Ann Krentz, who also writes contemporary romance under her own name and historical romance as Amanda Quick. The Harmony books give her a chance to combine her romance writing with science fiction worldbuilding, creating a series that has attracted readers from both genres.
