Forrest Bryant Johnson’s non-fiction books each focus on a different moment in American military history. Hour of Redemption covers a World War II rescue mission, while Phantom Warrior tells the true story of a remarkable soldier in the Pacific theater. The Last Camel Charge looks at the U.S. Army’s short-lived experiment with camel cavalry in the American Southwest.
His most recent book, Trooper, takes a different approach by telling the story of a wild bobcat that was adopted by a military family. All four books share Johnson’s interest in forgotten corners of history and the people and animals caught up in them.
